I'm lying battered and wounded on the tarmac of this harsh highway of life, dying slowly in my bitter solitude
People pass me by in an endless row like an infinite flowing mass that never stops moving
Not one of them seems to pay attention to my total state of humiliation
Perhaps it's better to have it that way, 'cause any other way would only turn things even bleacker
Right from the start I was swept aside just to be left forever without friends or love
Until I saw your mistlike figure in the faraway distance and felt that your beauty was too great to be nothing else but a mirage
But as you trode closer I saw a lovely expression of a smile appearing on your face driving away all the pain and bitterness that were soon gone without a trace
Then and there I could see you were as real and friendly than I could ever have imagined in my happiest of dreams
You had come there for me, to pick me up and heal my wounds, not to kick me down from the side of life
My heart no longer felt cold and lonely, for your smile told me everything so perfectly
That was when I realized that your soul and mine were meant to be matched
Our hearts and minds mingled as one, we took off to the distant horizons where sunset slowly proceeded, to find a new day, a new time and a new life to live in togetherness until then the end of eternity...
